About Heritage
Our Story ...
Heritage Church was started by several residents from our community who expressed an interest in establishing a church here in Macomb Twp. The church began serving our community on January 22, 2000.
During the first year, the attendance averaged 111 people. We are currently averaging over 1,200 people each week in our two weekend services. Although we have grown there are many aspects of Heritage that give it an intimate feeling. This helps keep us “small” even when it seems we are quite large.
For 10 years, Heritage was a portable church that set-up and tore-down what grew to be 4 semi-truck loads of equipment. But now, we have found a much more permanent home in the former AMC Sterling 10 Movie Theater on Schoenherr Rd. across from Lakeside Mall. After months of renovations we celebrated our building’s Grand Opening on October 3rd, 2011.
In June of 2011, Discover Church of Utica, MI joined Heritage and became a part of the family in order to for us all to be “Better Together.” Discover Church had a storied history but was most recently meeting at the Eisenhower Performing Arts Center. With Discover now Heritage church we have had great additions to our staff as well as a great number of people who are willing to serve the community around us.
Wow! things definitely have changed over the past 11 years and we look forward to what the next 11 has in store for us.
Our purpose is to encourage and equip people to become fully-devoted followers of Jesus.
